Army IgnitED

Army IgnitED is a dynamic online system for Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve Soldiers to pursue their education goals by requesting Tuition Assistance (TA) online for classroom and distance-learning college courses. The system automates many of the paper-based processes Soldiers historically conducted with their Army education counselor.

Soldiers can use the tool to create an education pathway for themselves, a course, or even an entire degree program. In addition, the website provides resources to help soldiers discover credentials that may be available based on their Career Management Field or Additional Skill Identifier.

The tool can be used to request scholarship funding and manage and monitor educational progress. The Army will only pay for courses authorized in Army Ignited and offered by schools registered in the site and accredited by the accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Authorized fees covered by TA include tuition, books, and other required materials.

The website also features an interactive eLearning map that allows Soldiers to find local educational institutions and vendors that offer educational opportunities. The map can be filtered by type of institution, region, and other factors to find the best options for their individual needs.

Request Army Tuition Assistance

ArmyIgnitED is the new system that replaces GoArmyEd for requesting tuition assistance. The system was created to simplify the process for students and postsecondary institutions. Since its launch, some soldiers have encountered challenges with the new platform. The Army has committed to supporting postsecondary institutions as they adapt to the new system.

The ArmyIgnitED portal allows Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve Soldiers to request Tuition Assistance (TA) online anytime, anywhere for classroom or distance learning classes. It also helps them manage their education records, including college classes, on-duty classes, testing, and Army Education Counselor support. Army Civilians can also use the service to apply for civilian education, training, and leadership development events.

Once your degree plan is loaded in ArmyIgnitED and any TA holds have been cleared, you can complete your course registration for the semester through the portal. Be sure to submit your TA request at least two weeks prior to the start date of your course to ensure it is processed in time for your registration.

If you encounter a hold on your TA application, review the ArmyIgnitED helpdesk resources or contact your Education Center for assistance. A number of step-by-step guides are available to assist you. To access the resources, click the ArmyIgnitED home page and select Helpdesk Resources – Training Materials – Student/Soldiers – Credentialing & Tuition Assistance category.

ArmyIgnitED Application

ArmyIgnitED is the virtual gateway for requesting tuition assistance (TA) online, anytime, anywhere, for classroom and distance-learning college courses. It automates many of the paper-based processes Soldiers historically conducted with their Army Education Counselor and makes it easier for them to track their academic progress.

When the system was first launched in 2021, it was plagued with numerous issues that made it frustrating for countless soldiers to use. These problems ranged from logging in to being unable to find their college or degree programs. There were also many issues with payments that caused students to have to pay thousands of dollars out of their own pockets. The service finally ended its contract with IgnitED Army in 2023, and the Army is now planning on switching to a new company that will be able to handle the system better.
